"Flawed: The Auror's Journal"
by Christine Anderson
aka Lilly Malfoy

Sometimes I look in the mirror and see nothing but flaws.

I'm a cynical idealist. I want to believe the best of people, but experience has taught me that I can't. I am paranoid. I can count on one hand the number of people I really trust, and I have trouble letting even them in.

I jump at shadows because sometimes they jump back, and experience has taught me that I need to be ready for that. I trust only those who've proven to me that I can trust them. A stranger might be perfectly trustworthy, perfectly harmless... or they might not. Simple, if brutal, truth- I don't trust a great many people I do know; why should I rush to trust someone I don't?

Perhaps that is my greatest flaw, that honesty. I rarely have time for the casual, harmless lies most people tell every day. I seldom have time to be polite rather than blunt. I see the truth, and I speak it.

I seldom speak before I think. No, the flaw is that more often than not, I know exactly what I'm saying, and I say it anyway.
