Giving Thanks

She has been ignoring American holidays for more than thirty years. Mostly she does this because it is easier to forget than to remember; she has memories of these holidays, memories from another life which for the most part she cannot acknowledge ever having lived. It is easier to ignore them, to let them pass without pause or comment.
Even so, there are things for which she is thankful, some small, others not. Sydney's return; Jack's strange, hesitant faith; Nadia's independence.
In a way which has little to do with old lies or secrets kept, Irina Derevko is thankful for her family.
