Beauty is a weapon.
Subtle and sharp, with an edge so keen that it draws killing blood before the enemy is aware he is dying. Wrapped in velvet and secrets, it may only bruise, but its edge is rarely dulled or blunted so.
I am not in the habit of holding back, nor of using less than the full and sharpest edges of any weapon I possess. It is impractical, dangerous; my enemies watch too closely for any sign of weakness, and I dare not show them any.
Many of these are men, and they believe that they understand the weapons I use and how I wield them. They are wrong.
Seduction is a weapon I rarely employ openly; the suggestion of its potential is often far more effective. Enemies and allies alike are surprisingly vulnerable to it, their quests to prove themselves worthy of me, or their attempts to demonstrate that they do not care if they are or not, are endlessly entertaining.
I have little interest in new lovers, old ones having complicated my life for over thirty years. And truly, it seems impossible for anyone now to hold the measure of those lovers of old. Not Jack, nor even Arvin. They are peerless, each in his own way. Arvin in ways he will pay for, and Jack... Jack who is my weakness, who allows the beauty of past love to be his.
